New Chamber directors named, terms start Oct. 1

COLUMBUS — The Columbus Chamber of Commerce has announced a new slate of directors recently elected to the board.

They will serve threeyear terms on a rotating sequence, a Chamber spokeswoman said.

The new officers will be sworn in Sept. 27 during the regular board meeting, followed by a vote to select the executive committee.

With the Chamber’s fiscal year running Oct. 1 through Sept. 30, new officers will begin their service the first day of next month.

The new directors include: • Donald Clark, who originally hails from New York and has a background in law enforcement. He serves as the Colorado County Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace.

• Lindsay McNutt, a San Antonio native and third-generation Columbus resident. She is a senior grants and contracts specialist with The University of Texas at Austin.

• Melissa “Missy” Parker, who recently retired from a Fortune 500 company as an executive in sales and marketing with extensive training in finance and management. She is spearheading the capital campaign to renovate the 137-year-old R.E. Stafford Opera House.

• Nancy Stiles spent 49 years in education and retired as a principal from the Katy Independent School District. In addition to two terms as the Chamber board president, Stiles is a founding board member of the Columbus Boys & Girls Club, “created (the) Taste of Columbus” event and has written for the Citizen, according a release.

Outgoing directors are Carrie Foster with Lone Star Bank, Ryan Fedako with Ryan’s Device Repair, Michelle Gorman with B.O.S.S. Services and Amber Becerra of Schneider Hall & The Carriage Step.

Current director Charles Potter with Potter’s Western Store will not be leaving the board; instead, he is being appointed to fill Becerra’s remaining year, officials said.

The latter is stepping down after serving seven years with the last eight months as board president.
