SHERIFF’S REPORT

FRIDAY, JANUARY 22

At 10:30 a.m., Julian Moore was dispatched to the 1000 block of Briarcrest Drive in New Ulm in reference to animal cruelty (livestock). After further investigation, the animals were seized with a warrant and examined by a veterinarian. The case will be forwarded to the Colorado COunty Attorney’s Office for criminal charges.

At 11:42 a.m., Holly Smith was dispatched to the Columbus Community Hospital in reference to an assault. It determined a report would be taken for information only. Case cleared.

At 4 p.m., Julian Moore initiated a traffic stop on Walnut at Prairie in Columbus. After further investigation, Debra Hibbard, 50 of Yoakum, was arrested for a warrant out of Dewitt County. Case cleared by arrest.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 23

At 11:07 a.m., Holly Smith was dispatched to the 2400 block of FM 109 for damage to property. Upon arrival, Smith made contact with the complainant and determined a report would be taken for information only. Case cleared by report.

At 8:50 a.m., Julian Moore was dispatched to the Sheriff’s Office in reference to criminal mischief that occurred on CR 151 in Columbus. The case will be inactive until additional information becomes available.

At 12:25 a.m., Julian Moore was dispatched to the 1200 block of Ramsey Road in Alleyton in reference to a disturbance. After further investigation, Oscar Loera, 61, of Alleyton, was arrested for public intoxication. Case cleared by adult arrest.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 24

At 3:47 p.m., Nathan Zwahr was dispatched to 5636 IH-10 in Alleyton in reference to a house fire. The Columbus and Bernardo Volunteer Departments extinguished the fire. The fire was determined to be accidental. Case cleared.

At 3:50 p.m., Julian Moore was dispatched to the 3100 block of CR 201 in reference to criminal mischief. Case is pending further investigation.

At 4:45 p.m., Tomas Ramirez was dispatched to Flower Hill Road in Columbus in reference to a theft. Case cleared; information only at this time.

MONDAY, JANUARY 25

At 2:32 p.m., Carlos Ortiz was advised by dispatch to a public service call with a complainant in Sheridan in reference to a stolen Louis Vuitton belt from her car. The belt was later returned and no charges were filed at the request of the complainant. Case cleared.

At 4:59 p.m., Jason Hunter was dispatched to the 1100 block of Piney Woods Road in Alleyton in reference to damaged property. Case cleared by report.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 26

At 4:58 p.m., Jason Hunter was dispatched to the Sheriff’s Office to meet with a complainant. After further investigation, Barbara Bujnoch, 46, of Sheridan, was arrested for public intoxication. Case cleared.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 27

At 10:02 p.m., Joshua Solis observed a vehicle with an expired registration. While attempting to catch up to the vehicle, an individual moved in front of Solis’ patrol car to interfere. After further investigation, Russell Clay Nelson, 31, of Rock Island, was arrested for interference with public duties. Case cleared by arrest.

At 7:37 a.m., Holly Smith was flagged down on the IH-10 exit at the 709 mile marker eastbound in reference to a motor vehicle accident. Case cleared by report.

At 8:02 a.m., Nathan Zwahr was dispatched to the 6400 block of Cat Spring Road in reference to a theft. Case will be inactive until additional information can be developed.

At 10 a.m., Andrew Weido met with two property owners in the 4400 block of Highway 71 S in Columbus in reference to a contractor that had trespassed onto private property causing extensive damage. The incident was later determined to be a civil matter. Case cleared by report.

At 12:48 p.m., JD Contreras was dispatched to the intersection of Lakeside Drive and Carter Walker Road in reference to a vehicle fire. Case cleared by report.

At 12:16 p.m., Nathan Zwahr was dispatched to Highway 71 South near CR 180 in reference to a suspicious person. After further investigation, Paul Riley, 46, of Youngstown, Ohio, was arrested for public intoxication. Case cleared by adult arrest.

At 1:47 p.m., Santa Nino was dispatched to the Sheriff’s Office in reference to a criminal trespass warning. Case is active pending issuance.

THURSDAY, JANUARY 28

At 6:34 a.m., Holly Smith was dispatched to the 8100 block of Highway 71 South in reference to a motor vehicle accident. It was determined the vehicle was abandoned from the previous day and was supposed to be picked up by the registered owner. Case cleared by report.

At 2:49 p.m., Nathan Zwahr was dispatched to an abandoned vehicle on IH-10 near the 684 mile marker. The vehicle was removed from the location by Bob’s Towing. Case cleared.

At 3:29 p.m., Holly Smith responded to Highway 90A in reference to a medical emergency. Through further investigation it was determined the driver needed medical attention and was transported to the Columbus Community Hospital by EMS. Case cleared by report.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 29

At 11:30 a.m., Julian Moore was dispatched to CR 16 at the Skull Creek crossing in reference to illegal dumping. Case inactive due to insufficient evidence.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 30

At 1:18 p.m., Carlos Ortiz was dispatched to the 7400 block of Highway 71 in Garwood in reference to loose livestock. The animals were removed from the location with a warrant and transported to the Columbus Livestock Auction Company for impoundment. Case is pending.

At 1:30 p.m., Justin Lindemann was dispatched to a public service call in reference to credit card abuse. Case is pending further investigation.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 31

At 1:29 a.m., Ryan Ohl initiated a traffic stop on Highway 71 near Business 71. After further investigation, Yaser Kassim Obald, 31, of Laredo, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, Penalty Group 1, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Case cleared by arrest.

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 1

At 1:32 a.m., Ryan Ohl initiated a traffic stop on Highway 90A at CR 103. After further investigation, Brian Guerrero, 19, of Altair, was arrested for no driver’s license and minor in possession of alcohol. Additionally, Irvin Solis-Dominguez, 18, of Rock Island, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. Case cleared.

At 6:44 a.m., Holly Smith was dispatched to a public service call in reference to property damage that occurred on IH-10. Case cleared by report.

At 9:40 a.m., Holly Smith was dispatched to the 1700 block of IH-10 in Weimar in reference to a stolen vehicle. It was determined the theft occurred in the 1000 block of FM 155 north of Weimar. The case will be inactive until additional information can be devolved to identify a suspect.
