Suspect charged in Eagle Lake neighborhood stabbing

EAGLE LAKE – On July 4, at approximately 9:35 p.m., the Eagle Lake Police Department responded to the 300 block of Simmons Street in reference to a male and female who had been stabbed at the residence. The suspect had fled prior to arrival, the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Due to the nature of the call, the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office and the Highway Patrol responded to assist the police department at the scene, according to a police report.

The suspect was identified as a 14-year-old juvenile who was detained at a nearby residence by the Eagle Lake Police Department, according to police.

The Sheriff Office said the Colorado County EMS were on scene treating the victims, who suffered life threatening injuries to the face, neck, and abdomen, and were later air lifted to Memorial Hermann Downtown Medical Center for treatment in critical condition.

The Sheriff’s Office said it along with Highway Patrol collected evidence at the scene. The Sheriff’s Office said it also collected additional evidence at other locations including the residence where the juvenile was apprehended.

Police said the juvenile suspect was transported to the Rice Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries to the hand before being processed and charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. According to a police report, the juvenile was later transported to a Juvenile Detention Center.

Police said the victims are at Memorial Hermann Downtown and are now in stable condition.

The Sheriff’s Office said they will be leading the investigation into this incident. The Sheriff’s Office said no information about motive or names will be released until further investigation is conducted.
