ALICE FAIRCHILD

Mrs. Fairchild, 96, passed away on July 2, 2021, in Kerrville, Texas.

Alice was born December 12, 1924, in Weimar, Texas, to the late August and Vlasta Kroboth Shumbera. She was a resident of Athens for many years and then moved, only to return in 1990, where she and her husband raised cattle and developed a passion for working in her vegetable garden. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Athens, where she was deeply involved in many different activities. She loved to visit with people about joining the church or seeing those members unable to get out. Alice never met a stranger. She loved world history and shared that passion with many. In 2000 she relocated to Fredericksburg to be closer to her son and his family.

She was preceded in death by her husband; JC Fairchild, sisters; Edith and Vlasta.

Survivors include her son, CJ Fairchild, and wife Hollie of Fredericksburg, grandson; Austin Fairchild of Houston, sister; Lillian Lee of Weimar, brother; August Shumbera of North Carolina, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Alice Fairchild were scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at Athens Cemetery under the direction of Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
