Angelia Hernandez “Helen” Rios, 87 of Columbus, Texas passed away on Aug 6, 2023, in Houston, Texas.

Helen was born May 31,1936, to Juan Hernandez and Mary Gonzales in Columbus, Texas. On Dec 17,1954, she married Jenaro Rios.

Helen worked in housekeeping for many years in the nursing home. Helen enjoyed being outdoors in

her yard planting flowers, playing bingo and Chalupa (Mexican bingo). She loved being with her family, going walking, watching football, her favorite team to root for was the Dallas Cowboys.Also she enjoyed watching baseball and she loved the Houston Astros. She enjoyed spending time with her Tia’s, her favorite was going for ice cream.

Helen is survived by daughters Dora Mancha and husband Pancho, Rosa Hinson, Diana Rios, Geneva Heger and husband Daniel Heger, Helen Rios, Beatrice Demar and husband Johnny Demar, and Darlene Rios; sons Jenaro “Buck” Rios Jr., and Raymond Rios and wife Mary Rios; sister Linda Vega and brother David Andrade and 22 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents Juan Hernandez and Mary Gonzales, husband Jenaro Rios, grandson David “Dae Dae” Anthony Rios Carter, brothers Richard Cortez, Roy Hernandez and David Longoria, sister Ester Zamora, son-in-laws John Hinson, and Roy David Hernandez.

Visitation will be held on Thursday Aug 10, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas. A rosary will be held at 7:00 PM.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday Aug 11, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Henneke Funeral Home. Deacon Rusty Theut will be officiating. Visitation on Friday will be from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

Burial will take place in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Columbus, Texas.

Pallbearers are Raymond Rios, Jenaro “Buck” Rios, Jr., Daniel “D.J.” Heger, Andrew Lee Rios, Brandon Raymond Carter, Joseph Rios Michael Hinson, Becky Hernandez and Christopher D. Rios.

Memorials may be given to Columbus Family Worship Center, 3231 Columbus Loop, Columbus, TX 78934 or the charity of your choice.
