BROD

Doris Ann Peikert Brod of Bernardo passed away at her residence Dec. 9. She was born Oct. 26, 1930 in Bernardo to Joe and Leona Ritter Peikert. She married G.A. Brod on June 21, 1950 at St. Roch Catholic Church.

Doris was a dedicated wife and mother who enjoyed gardening, along with canning fruits and vegetables. She was also an excellent cook and baker who made angel food cakes from scratch. She was a member of St. Roch Catholic Church, St. Roch Altar Society and the Sons of Herman.

Doris is survived by sons, James Brod and wife Sharon; Leonard Brod and wife Melinda; daughter, Kay Powers and husband Mickey. Her grandchildren, Jason Brod and Debra Rodrigue, Jeramy Brod and wife Sarah, Matt Brod, Emily Brod, Julie Brod, Jill Powers, Katherine Schneider and husband Luke and Cullen Powers. Also, two great-grandchildren Addie and Alana Brod.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and an infant son.

Funeral service was Thursday, Dec. 12 at St. Roch Catholic Church in Mentz, with Father Michael Lyons officiating. Visitation was Wednesday, Dec. 11 at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, and at church Thursday. There was a Parish Prayer service and Rosary Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home. Burial was in St. Roch Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jason Brod, Jeramy Brod, Matt Brod, Cullen Powers, Luke Schneider and Dewayne Lanier.
