Marjorie Ann Howe Criswell passed away Thursday, Sept. 16. She was born Jan. 28, 1930 in Columbus, the first of two children.

She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert Howe and mother, Helen Howe, both of Columbus, her niece and God child Dawn Shant Gonzalez, and her dear husband of 68 years, Charley Criswell. Her sister Patricia Shant of Crosby survives her.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Sharla Criswell Bell (Kenneth Bell), son James Criswell (Rhonda Couch Criswell), grandchildren Cristalynn Bell Dillon (Michael Dillon), Cody Criswell (Alexandra Roesle Criswell), and Haley Criswell Jones (Jordan Jones), and great-grandchildren Charley and Lillian Dillon.

She attended Columbus High School where she graduated in 1947. After graduating high school, she attended Business College at Houston Business School and went on to a successful career as an Administrative Assistant at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church and Brown & Root where she eventually retired.

Marjorie enjoyed spending quality time with Charley riding the pastures in their old Ford pickup truck, spending quality time with her children and grandchildren, crocheting blankets and shopping at any Dollar Store she could find. In her later years, she enjoyed listening to Big Band music while working on crafts with her daughter. Her quick smile and wit will be remembered by all.

Her Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date and memorial donations may be made, in her honor, to the American Diabetes Association, 7670 Woodway Dr Unit 230, Houston, TX 77063.
