Carol Ann Emmel Custer, 76, of Lake Jackson, passed away Feb. 21 in Clute. She was born Feb. 2, 1946 in Columbus to Leo Emmel and Emma (Kainer) Emmel.

It’s said that we have to get to heaven to see an angel, however Clif, Rachel and Stephanie were fortunate enough to be raised by one.

God has called His angel back home. Carol loved her children unconditionally, supported their lifestyles in such ways like making their events and games and giving them each the opportunity to express their talents.

They weren’t her only fans; she has several grandchildren and great grandchildren who thought just as fondly of her.

Throughout her life Carol enjoyed the outdoors, with a passion for gardening and collecting seashells at surfside beach.

Carol was a hard worker, not only in her home but she invested 29 years working as a deli manager inside of her favorite store Kroger.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents Leo and Emma Emmel and her husband Jon Custer.

She is survived by her three children; Clif Custer (Lisa), Rachel Smith (Randy) and Stephanie Simmons; grandchildren Braisly Payton (Nieco), Brenton Simmons, Brittany Simmons, Marlon Thomas (Jillian), Cole Smith, and Addalyn

Custer; great grandchildren Brayson Simmons, Brayden Simmons, and Aria Thomas who will never forget her kind ways.

Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 25 from noon – 1 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus. Funeral service will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home with Jerome Emmel officiating. Burial will follow in Ijams Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 100 Oak Dr S, Lake Jackson, TX 77566 or charity of your choice.
