David Anthony Rios, also known as Dae-Dae Carter, 38, of Columbus, Texas, passed away on August 1, 2021, in Columbus, Texas.

He was born on May 13, 1983, to David Wayne Carter and Angelita Marie Rios in Houston, Texas.

David was a devoted single father who had dreams and visions of becoming a self-employed commercial truck driver. He loved to take trips, and he loved providing for his mother, children, sister, and brother.

He was well-loved in Colorado County and surrounding counties. David’s hobbies included floating and fishing in the Colorado River. He also enjoyed riding four-wheelers and showing his company and friends the best hospitality, he could.

David was a member of Columbus First Church of Nazarene, where he was baptized in front of his community and his church family. He was very “Plugged into the Lord,” as he would say.

David enjoyed living life to the fullest, and his spirit was that of Y.O.L.O.--- You Only Live Once.

David is survived by his father David Wayne Carter; mother Angelita Marie Rios; longtime companion Chastity Hayes; special friend Montia Gillaspie; daughter Za’Dayah Carter; son David Isiah Carter; step-son Dadrid Anthony Vasquez; sisters Rachel Adams and husband Tim, Amanda Rios, DiAundra Carter, Britney Gallaglter and husband David, and Gabriella Shannon; brothers Christopher “Whoatay” Carter and La’Quinton Dewayne Powell.

Visitation was held on Friday, August 6, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas followed by a candlelight vigil and balloon release at 1100 Robson St at 8:00 p.m. Visitation was also on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home.

On Saturday, August 7, 2021, a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home. Pastor Mike Sutton officiated.

Burial took place in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Columbus, Texas.

Pallbearers were Floyd “Pot” Denley, Marc Woods, Micheal Hinson, Juwan Carter, Daniel Heger, and Andrew Wilson. Honorary pallbearers were Brandon Carter, Jimmy Carter Jr., Curtis Carter, Andre Carter, Cordrik Carter, Channing Wallace, Phillip Carter, Thomas Moore, and Johnny Phillips.
