DAVID WAYNE KOTZEBUE

Family and friends, join us for a celebration of life service to honor David Wayne Kotzebue on Saturday Feb. 10, 2024 at 9 a.m. for the viewing and 10 a.m. for the service at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 201 Veterans Drive, Columbus, Tx. A reception to follow.

David Wayne Kotzebue age 77, of Columbus, Texas passed away Dec. 30, 2023.

He was born in Columbus, Texas on Jan. 12, 1946 to Virginia Mary Kotzebue and Terry William Kotzebue.

David grew up in the Columbus area and graduated from Columbus High School. After high school, David worked in the oil field industry for many years in Houston and worked overseas in Japan where he met and married his wife Katsuko and then retiring and moved to Columbus. David then went to work for Colorado County 911 Rural addressing from Aug. 13, 2004 to Oct. 31, 2021.

David enjoyed playing his Guitars and Keyboards and working on his computers at his shop. He loved his four-legged babies, (Show-up, Missy, Sissy, Dempsey and of course (Bud) his pet parrot.

David is survived by his wife Katsuko, nephews Mark Cowart and wife Virginia of Columbus, Bob Cowart and wife Pauline of Basehor, Kansas, great nephew Ryan and fiancé Lexi as well as numerous cousins.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Terry and Virginia Kotzebue, sister Alma Dianne Cowart, brother-in-law Robert Cowart and great nephew Matthew Gundelach.
