GLADYS (HALFMANN) STOLLE

Gladys (Halfmann) Stolle, 94, passed away with her family by her side on Feb. 24, 2024 in Sealy, Texas.

She was born on Nov. 16, 1929 in Frelsburg, Texas to Anton and Vlasta (Kulhanek) Halfmann. Gladys was the eldest child of nine siblings. On Aug. 21, 1950, she married Leon Fred Stolle in Frelsburg, Texas and they were blessed with one child.

Gladys worked as a bookkeeper for Columbus Tire Company (Firestone) and later worked for St. Anthony’s Catholic School

driving the school bus and working in the library.

She was a lifetime member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Daughters Court Mary Queen of the Snows #1588 and also served as a member of the Altar Society. Over the course of 50 years, she volunteered countless hours with the church counting collections and keeping records. Gladys also found time to be a member of the VFW Auxiliary no. 6113.

Gladys enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening in her younger days. Her favorite things were quilting and spending time with her family, especially her two granddaughters. She will be most remembered for her homemade bread, her beautiful quilts, and her willingness to help anyone whenever possible. Gladys lived in Columbus for most of her life but moved with her daughter and her family in 2004 to live with them in Sealy, Texas. Gladys spent much of her life looking after others and nothing made her happier than doing something special for someone in need.

Gladys is survived by her daughter Anne Faichtinger and husband Michael, as well as her granddaughters Casey and Kendall Faichtinger, of Sealy. She is also survived by her siblings Virginia Faldyn, Joe Halfmann, Raymond Halfmann and wife Sharon, Janice Kasmiersky and husband A.K., Diane Seidel, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 51 years, Leon; brother, Anton Halfmann Jr.; sisters, Ellen Vasek and Jurline Huebel; brothers- in-law, Charles Vasek, Albert Huebel, Joe Faldyn Jr., and Edwin Seidel; and sister-in-law Margie Halfmann.

All services will take place in Columbus, Texas. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home, followed by a parish prayer service and rosary. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, officiated by Fr. James Dvorak. Visitation at the church will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Burial will take place in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Stephen Vasek, Randy Huebel, Arthur Faldyn, R.J. Halfmann, Mark Kasmiersky, and Paul Prazak.
