JOE, (JOSEPH), HENNEKE

Joe, (Joseph), Henneke of Frelsburg took his final breath on this earth with his wife and family on Aug 18, 2023. He was born on Nov 18, 1938, to Leo and Josephine (Kuhn) Henneke in Sealy, Texas. Joe married his high school sweetheart Jocelyn Motl on July 27, 1958, and they recently celebrated 65 years together. They had three loving daughters. Joe was a member of the Frelsburg Knights of Columbus and a member of St. Roch Catholic Church in Mentz. He served nine years in the National Guard. He worked for the Texas Highway Department for 35 years and retired in 1993. After retirement he went to work on his own and did custom hay baling.Hunting was the love of his life. He flew to Alaska and Canada for nine days and got a moose and in New Mexico he got an elk. Joe also enjoyed hunting in the Hill Country in South Texas and around his home. Joe grew up on the family farm and ranch. He spent many hours with the horse and mules mowing hay. He then got a cab tractor and a best friend, “Smokey the dog”. He went with him everywhere he went. When he got older, he rode in cab tractor with him.

Joe is survived by his wife Jocelyn Henneke; daughters Margie Waller of Houston, Margaret Glueck and husband Chris of Bernardo, and Melissa Petras and husband Thomas of La Grange; 8 grandchildren, Tisha Cantu, Garon Miller (fiancé Brittany), April (Johnny) Toliver, Jacey (Adriana) Nawara, Jordan (Morgan) Glueck, Mason Glueck, Candace (Edward) Halpain, and Shelby (Jason) Zbranek; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sister-in-law Ernestine Henneke; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Josephine Henneke; brothers Alois Henneke and Edbert Henneke; sisters Marie Poenitzsch, Leona Schertz, and Cealy Luedecke.

Visitation was Tuesday, Aug 22, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus. A parish prayer service and rosary followed at 7:00 PM led by Deacon Doug Tromblee.

Funeral service was Wednesday, Aug 23, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Roch Catholic Church in Mentz with Fr. James Dvorak officiating. Visitation at church was from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Burial was in St. Roch Catholic Cemetery in Mentz.

Pallbearers were Jacey Nawara, Jordan Glueck, Mason Glueck, Edward Halpain, Greg Carlin and Jason Zbranek.
