Don E. Kleppel, 75, of Sheridan, passed away Feb. 6 in Sheridan.

He was born July 26, 1946 to Alfred Alvin Kleppel and Eddie Jewel (Bruce) Kleppel in Houston. On Apr. 1, 1966 he married Peggy Louise Pfeiffer.

Don and Peggy moved to Sheridan around 1975 where they raised their two sons. He was devoted to his children and grandchildren. Don was an active member of Sheridan First Baptist Church and was baptized at Lake Sheridan. He loved to hunt, fish, shoot guns and garden. His favorite sayings were, “My God,” and to follow up with, “Really?” He loved spending quality time with his family telling stories and listening to music.

Don was a proud member of the United States Air Force, achieved the rank of Sargent and was stationed in Alaska. He also worked for the Texas Department of Corrections as a correctional officer for many years until retirement. Prior to that, he worked for Cameron Iron Works in Houston.

Don is survived by his daughters-in-law Michelle Moore Kleppel and Juanita Kleppel-Andexler; grandchildren Travis Kleppel and wife Tara, Dylan Kleppel and wife Sadie, Colten Kleppel, Aaron Kleppel, Brandi Patterson; great-grandchildren Joey Kleppel, Rylee Kleppel, Chelsey Kleppel; brothers Rick Kleppel and wife Wanda, Ronnie Kleppel and wife Linda, Randy Kleppel and wife Kathy; sister Linda Green and husband Joe; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins that were deeply loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred Kleppel and Eddie Kleppel; wife Peggy Louise Pfeiffer Kleppel; and his two sons Tommy Eldon Kleppel and Timmy Dean Kleppel.

Visitation was Tuesday, Feb. 15 at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus.

Graveside service was Tuesday, Feb. 15 at Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery in Columbus. Pastor Allen Tangler officiated.

Burial will take place in Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery in Columbus.

Pallbearers were his grandchildren Travis Kleppel, Brandi Patterson, Dylan Kleppel, Colten Kleppel, Aaron Kleppel and a nephew, Frankie Green.

Honorary pallbearers were his great-grandchildren Joey and Rylee Kleppel.

Memorials may be given to the charity of your choice.

Donations can be made for Don in lieu of flowers at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus.
