L. Coleman Nalls, 71, of Sheridan, Texas, passed away on Nov. 20, 2022, in Sheridan.

He was born July 14, 1951, to Lloyd George Nalls and Dorothy Ann (Radar) Nalls in Dallas. On June 20, 1986, he married Ruby “Cookie” Baker.

Coleman worked as a flat-bed long-haul truck driver for many years.

He was a member of Rock Island Full Gospel Church and Kairos Prison Ministry.

Coleman enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling on the road in his 18-wheeler and later in his Pilot/Escort of oversize load. He also valued his nine years with Kairos Prison Ministry. In his early days, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle in competitions. Numerous times his team took state. He was known to most as “Poppy” and as a big teddy bear. He enjoyed being with family and friends, with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren being his biggest joy.

Coleman is survived by his wife, Ruby “Cookie” Nalls; daughters Gina Pherigo and husband, Glen, of Sterling City, Angela Dalahite and husband, Kevin, of Winnie, Tina Bell and husband, Brian, of Sheridan and Tracey Nalls Menges of Athens; sons Donny Heffernan and wife, Lexi, of Baytown, Michael Loesch and wife, Ann, of East Bernard and Brian Michaelz and wife, T.J., of Athens; brother Edward Scott Nalls and wife, Margaret, of Wellington, Colorado; grandchildren Courtney Marie Walker, Ethan Pherigo, Payton Pherigo, Harley Ritter and husband Chase, Cody Bell and wife Brittany, Miranda Menges, Branden Heffernan, Katelyn Heffernan, Preston Sharpe and wife Tierra, Emily Rubalcaba and husband Andrew, Justin Sharpe and wife Mary, Chet Michaelz and Sean Michaelz; great-grandchildren Jayce Ritter, Hadlee Bell, Hoyt Bell, Sutton Ritter, Kyler Sharpe, Masson Sharpe, Caspian Sharpe, Elise Rubalcaba and Audrey Rubalcaba; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law Jerlene Kerr; brother Wayne Robley Nalls; brother-in-law Joe Franklin Baker; and granddaughter Kayla Danee Uribe.

A celebration of his life is 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, at Rock Island Full Gospel Church in Rock Island, Texas.

Pastor Calvin Harris, Tommy Wenzel and Leonard Reip will be officiating.

Honorary pallbearers are James Baker, David Baker, Jay Baker and Leonard Reip.
