Mahlon Lighthill, 77, of Columbus, passed away Sept. 14 in Houston.

He was born May 8, 1944 to Gifford Lighthill and Mary (Ruble) Lighthill in Valentine, NE. He married Carol Faith Brannon Oct. 16, 1965.

Mahlon worked as a clerk/general associate for many years at AL&M in Columbus. He spent time in the Navy and served in Vietnam.

He was a very active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and served on the church council.

Mahlon enjoyed woodworking, playing games with his family and miniature horses. He loved music and was active in the community choir. He was looking forward to the Christmas Cantata.

Mahlon is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol Lighthill; daughter Faith Riehl; sons Brian Lighthill and Mark Lighthill; sister Sharon Lighthill; brothers Phil Lighthill and Lanny Lighthill; grandchildren Zachary Ward, Mary Faith Pruski, Jacob Lighthill, Luke Riehl, and David Riehl; great-grandchild Arthur Pruski.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gifford Lighthill and Mary Lighthill.

A funeral service will be held at a future date. Burial will be in Weimar Masonic Cemetery in Weimar.
