Georgie Ann Gundelach Maertz, 91, of Mentz, Texas, passed away on July 2, 2021, in Columbus, Texas. On July 27, 1929, she was born to John Gundelach and Christina (Gold) Gundelach in Columbus. On November 17, 1948, she married Otis Maertz.

Georgie was a member of St. Roch Catholic Church. She was active in the Altar Society and St. Roch Catholic Daughter member.

Georgie enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and other family members and friends. Camping and hunting were her favorite past times.

Georgie is survived by her daughter Lois Kaspar and husband Leonard of Fayetteville; sons Michael Maertz and wife Doris of Columbus, Jeffrey Maertz and wife Joy of Sealy, and Russell Maertz and wife Johnna of Columbus; grandchildren Tammy Kaspar Lunbeck and husband Chris, Kory Kaspar, and wife Kayla, Chris Kaspar, Kyle Kaspar, and wife Heather, Dawn Nye Tesla and husband Marlon, April Nye, Carly Maertz, and Jessy Joy Maertz Ferguson and husband Dylan; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents John Gundelach and Christina Gundelach; husband Otis Maertz; sisters Mildred Skutca, Laura Moeckel, and Elsie Pilsner; brothers Edwin Gundelach, and Johnny Gundelach.

Visitation was held on Monday, July 5, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas, and at church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

A parish prayer service and Altar Society, and Catholic Daughter Rosary were held on Monday, July 5, at 7:00 p.m. at the Henneke Funeral Home. The funeral service was Tuesday, July 6, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Roch Catholic Church in Mentz, Texas, under the direction of Henneke Funeral Home. Fr. Bob Knippenberg officiated.

Burial took place in St. Roch Catholic Cemetery in Mentz.

Pallbearers were Georgie’s grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to St. Roch Catholic Church Building Fund, 1600 Frelsburg Rd, Alleyton, TX 78935.
