MAHALA IDELLA “SISSY” HENRY

Mahala Idella “Sissy” Henry, 88, of Rock Island, passed away on Jan. 27, 2024 in Austin.

She was born Jan. 18, 1936, to Henry Joseph Frederick and Catherine Farmer (Coleman) Frederick in Columbus, Texas. On Aug. 4, 1953, she married Gentle Lee Henry.

Sissy was a member of Rock Island Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, baking, reading books, working puzzle books and watching birds.

Sissy is survived by her daughters Verniss Diane Cochran and husband Dennis of Rock Island and Catherine Wostarek of Waller; grandchildren Jerri Henry Linnemier and husband Clifton, Marc Anthony Henry and wife Tiffany, Casey Arrin Fontes and husband Joey, and Stephanie Lyn Fletcher and husband John; great grandchildren Zoey, Marius, Anthony, Mahaylee, Celeste, Garrett, Brantley, Rhiver, Rhiott, Rhoper, October, Opal, Josie, Tyler, Benji, Gemma, Kimber, Delynn and Jazlynn.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gentle Lee Henry; parents Henry and Catherine Frederick; sister Lula Victoria Watts; brothers Joseph Frederick and Richard Frederick; granddaughter Kristi Diane Baker; great granddaughter Maggie Nicole Henry.

Visitation was Sunday, Feb. 4, 2024, from 4-6 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus.

Funeral service was held on Monday, Feb. 5, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus. Calvin Harris officiated. Visitation was from 9-10 a.m.

Burial took place in Myrtle Cemetery in Rock Island.

Pallbearers were Dan Jolly, Forrest Bryant, Buck Bujnoch, Bri Cunningham, Gary Henry, and Keith Nance. Honorary pallbearers were Brian Bell, JoJo Linnemier, Kenny Nance and Cody Nance.
