Rudolph Lawrence “Rudy” Mikulec, 75, of Cat Spring, passed away at his ranch Jan. 12 in Cat Spring.

He was born Oct. 7, 1946 to Theodore Ernest Mikulec and Rita Josephine (Hertenberger) Mikulec in Cameron. On May 25, 1984 he married Carolyn Irvin Crawford.

Rudy graduated from Yoe High School in Cameron and then went on to attend Sam Houston University where he graduated with an accounting degree.

Rudy retired from EOG Resources in Houston in 2016 as a director of the division support team. He was an avid gardener, always sharing vegetables and plants with neighbors and friends. Rudy and Carolyn shared a passion for dancing with many of their friends at polka gatherings.

Rudolph is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Carolyn Crawford Mikulec; brother T.J. Mikulec and wife Sharon of Buckholts; sister Diana Robinson of Frisco; daughter Angele Mikulec Powers of Beaumont; step-daughters Kimberly Dawn Coons of Cat Spring, and Carol Lynn Rizzo of Houston; stepson Robert Coons, Jr. of Tyler; as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Theodore Mikulec and Rita Mikulec.

Visitation was Monday, Jan. 17 at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus. A rosary and prayer service were held at 2 p.m. Deacon Andy Nunmaker officiated.

A graveside service and interment will be Saturday, Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
