Robert Louis Skutca, 80, of Cypress, Texas, passed away on April 26, 2023, in Houston, Texas.

He was born on Nov. 5, 1942, to Louis Joseph Skutca and Lena Bertha (Naumann) Skutca in Columbus, Texas. On Oct. 9, 2000, he married Rebecca Archuleta.

Robert worked as a store manager for many years for Winn’s and then Hobby Lobby. He spent time in the National Guard.

He was a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Houston.

Robert enjoyed watching the Astros, Texans and golf. He loved fishing and playing poker with his friends. He really enjoyed being around his grandkids. His first meal of the day had to be breakfast no matter the time of day. He loved BBQ, kolaches and always had to have his chocolate candy. He kept up with the local news and world events through TV & newspapers including his hometown newspaper ‘The Colorado County Citizen’.

Robert is survived by his wife Rebecca Skutca; daughters Melissa Nesheim and husband Jim and Suzanne Skutca of Corpus Christi; son Tom Skutca of Lewisville; stepsons Alfonso Cruz and wife Alice of Irving and Brad Cruz of Avondale, Arizona; grandchildren Lauren Beth Skutca, Jacob Dean Skutca, Michael Jude Daigrepont, Wyatt Garcia, Braden Elena Nesheim, and Christopher James Nesheim; step-grandchildren Caitlin Cruz and Alyssa Cruz; sister Kathleen Koehl and husband Ed; brothers Bennie Joe Skutca and wife Waldine and David Skutca; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Lena Skutca.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, from 5-7 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas. A rosary followed at 7 p.m.

Funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 1 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus, Texas with Fr. Nelson Gonzalez officiating. Visitation at church was from noon to 1 p.m.

Burial took place in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Columbus, Texas.

Pallbearers are Tom Skutca, Jacob Skutca, Jim Nesheim, Christopher Nesheim, Wyatt Garcia, Michael Daigrepont, Alfonso Cruz & Brad Cruz.
