Adeline Spross lived a blessed life of 93 years, and she spread sunshine everywhere she went. She will now spread that sunshine from heaven, as the Lord called her home Aug. 22, following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, brothers, sisters, and her husband Barney Spross. She is survived by children Jennie and Joe, grandchildren Keith, Cory, Zach and Ethan, as well as great-grandchildren Nathan, Reid, Karina, Guy and Gabriel.

Adeline grew up on a farm in McGregor. She married Barney Spross in 1948 and they moved to Columbus in 1952. Her life was built on her commitment to God, her dedication to family, and her desire to serve others.

She worked at the Columbus Community Hospital from 1968 to 1990. Even after she retired, she spent many years as a volunteer there.

She was a loving and giving mother to her children and a joyful, creative grandmother to her grandkids. She instilled in her children and grandchildren the value of service to others, the wisdom of nature, and the importance of family.

She was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, serving as a volunteer in many groups there for many years.

God gave her the gift of creativity, and her hobbies included painting, ceramics, and other crafts.

Along with her love for family and friends, she loved animals and gardening. She was happiest when working in her flower gardens, and caring for rescued dogs and cats.

She is remembered for her every-present smile that shone God’s light to all she encountered.

Services will be at a later date, those wishing to honor her may make a memorial donation to St. Paul Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 267, Columbus, TX 78934 in her name.
