Martha May Stancik, 87, of Columbus, went to be with our Lord Sunday, Oct. 6.

Martha was born May 1, 1932 to Paul and Roxie (Schramm) Laake of New Ulm.

Martha was a member of the Catholic Daughters at St. Anthony Church. She worked for Meals on Wheels and enjoyed visiting with hospice patients. She loved and adored caring for numerous children throughout her life, and for the last eight years she loved and adored her fourth great niece, Makayla Stancik and fourth great nephews, Wyatt and M.J. Rapalo. She also enjoyed being a seamstress for many Columbus residents and creating quilt tops. Her favorite pastimes were working with flowers in her yard, solving word searches, reading from her Bible and playing dominos.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Paul and Roxie Laake, husband; Mickey Stancik, grandson; Joshua Kollmann, sisters; Agnes Richter, Annie Hollmann and Nola Richter and brother; Oswald Laake.

She is survived by her sons; Arthur Ray Stancik and wife Margie, Tony Stancik and wife Jita, Mark Stancik, Darryl Stancik and wife Linda, daughters; Diane Kollmann and husband Mike, Barbara Lejeune and husband T-Mike, Karen Hoelscher and husband Mike, and Jennifer Stancik; sister, Viola Kretzschmar.

Martha was blessed with 20 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 9 at Henneke Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be a parish prayer service and Catholic daughter rosary at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be Thursday, Oct. 10 at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Fr. Augustine Asante officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Columbus.

Pallbearers are Joey Stancik, Bradley Stancik, John Stancik, Jason Kollmann, Aaron Kollmann, Luke Stancik, Shane Parsons and Michael Parsons.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Chad Lagaly, Eric Taylor, Mark Noska, Ryan New, Jacob Truchard, Thomas Tydlacka, Derek French and Julio Torres.
