Cecil Eugene Strickland, 83, of Rock Island, passed away Oct. 15 in Rock Island.

He was born on Nov. 15, 1937 to Woodrow Wilson Strickland and Norma Helen (Holder) Strickland in Gulfport, MS. On Aug. 30, 1975 he married Roxana Klopf.

Cecil was a truck driver for many years. He spent time as a Merchant Marine.

He was a member of Church of God.

Cecil enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting.

Cecil is survived by his wife of 46 years, Roxana Strickland; daughters Debbie Richmond and husband Dave and Jinice Baker and husband Dwayne; sons Jonathon Christian Klopf and Jimmy Breshears; nephew Lee Lilley; sister Margie Elaine Helveston and husband Jesse; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Joseph Edward Strickland; sister Mary Elizabeth Strickland; half-brother Alvin Strickland; and half-sister Betty Reneau.

Visitation was Monday, Oct. 18 from 9-10 a.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus.

Funeral Service was Monday, Oct. 18 at 10 a.m. at Henneke Funeral Home. Pastor Melvin

Burial took place in Sweeny Cemetery in Sweeny.

Pallbearers were Lee Lilley, Dustin Lilley, Jeremy Helveston, Mark Helveston, Cody Nance and Lee Lilley. Honorary pallbearers were Jon Klopf and Jesse Helveston.

Memorials may be given to Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1st St. Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.
