Bill Wegenhoft, 90, passed away Jan. 21 at West Houston Medical Center surrounded by his children.

Bill was born Jan. 4, 1930 in Rock Island to Oscar and Elsie Wright Wegenhoft. He is a graduate of San Marcos Baptist Academy and the University of Houston with a degree in Business Administration.

While attending college, Bill met Betty Linke at a church picnic. They were married Oct. 19, 1953 at the First Baptist Church in Eagle Lake. After returning home in 1957, Bill joined his father in the ranching business. Years later his son, Carl, joined him in the family business. After Carl joined the business, Bill and Betty enjoyed many years of traveling, spending weekends in San Antonio or just deciding to get up and go on the spur of the moment.

His parents, Elsie Wegenhoft and Oscar Wegenhoft, preceded Bill in death. He is survived by his wife Betty; son Carl; son Curt and his wife Allison; daughter Cindy Moran and husband Dan; granddaughter Rachel Wegenhoft; and grandsons William Moran, Elliott Moran, and Mitchell Moran.

Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Henneke Funeral home in Columbus, with Rev. Erik Lankford officiating. Visitation was Saturday, and burial followed at Lakeside Cemetery in Eagle Lake.

Bill was a much-loved son, husband, father and grandfather who will be missed every day.
