Kathy Marie (Kalinowsky) Wied, age 67, formerly of Houston, passed away Thursday Oct. 7 in her home in Cat Spring, Kathy was born to John and June Kalinowsky on Mar. 1, 1954 in Houston. She was a graduate of Spring Branch High School in 1973. She married Christopher Wied Dec. 1, 1984. After spending the beginning of their marriage traveling and spending precious time with family and friends, Kathy and Chris welcomed son, Travis, in February of 1991.

Kathy spent much of her life working as a devoted mother and housewife. She found true solace in nature and enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening, feeding and watching birds and other animals, and capturing photos of wildlife. Kathy welcomed her first grandchild, Memphis, in March of 2020 and felt such pride and joy in entering the new chapter as a grandmother “KK”.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, John and June Kalinowsky; sister Karen Speir; and brother Kelly Kalinowsky.

She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Chris Wied of Cat Spring; son Travis Wied and wife Hailey of Houston; granddaughter Memphis Wied; sister Karol Potter of Kerrville; nephew Ross Potter and wife Kari; niece Anissa Reagor and husband Charlie; nephew Chris Speir; nephew Kyle Speir and wife Kim; nephew Blake Wied and wife Misty; and niece Stacie Klein and husband Justin; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and friends.

A memorial service will be Saturday, Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. at Henneke Funeral Home with Pastor Stan Warfield officiating. A visitation will be held from 9 – 10 a.m., also at the funeral home.
