Zak Kunz only allowed four hits into the seventh inning to lead the Wildcats to a 4-2 win over the number eight-ranked Shiner Commanches on Tuesday night March 19.

Kunz pitched one of his best games. He broke his left wrist at the beginning of the Wildcats’ season but, as you can see, it’s not stopping him to finish out his senior year on the mound or anywhere on the field. Top of the seventh inning with only three outs to claim this huge win over the Shiner Commanches.

First batter hits to third base, where Daniels is able to stay in control of the ball and makes a bullet throw to first base, where Fishbeck is waiting to catch the ball for out number one.

Second batter hits a routine pop up to fight fielder Chenard where he bobbles the ball and the runner stays at first base. At this time Coach Minks does a pitching change Sam Reidlinger is now on the mound.

Sam walks his first batter, the next batter hit a line drive towards third base to where Daniels was able to snatch it in the air before it made its way out into the left field, with Daniels making the catch the Wildcats are now one out away from beating Shiner.

Sam delivers with a K to end the game.Weimar (8-6) improved to 4-0 and took over sole possession of the District 28-2A lead.

Kunz did an amazing job on the mound the whole night, he worked into the seventh inning before hitting his pitch count, to where Sam Riedlinger came in and picked up the save.

Shiner Commanches had base runners in every inning but the second. The Commanches stranded nine and scored their two runs in the fifth inning.

The Wildcats had four of their five hits and scored all their runs in the fourth inning.

Trenton Chenard had an RBI single, Jagger Fish-beck added an RBI double, and Hunter Price singled home the final two runs. These two teams will meet again in the second round of district in Shiner.
