Capping off the Weimar Ladycats participation in their host tournament were their final two games against Edna and Seguin.

The Ladycats lost both of those games but were able to lock up 4th place because of their efforts early on in the tournament.

Vs. Edna, L, 56-35

The Ladycats met the Edna Cowgirls in the semi-finals of the tournament and came out firing to start the game off.

The Ladycats executed well on offense and defense to start the game and were keeping up with the Cowgirls for the majority of the first half. The Cowgirls adjusted at halftime, though, and were able to put their foot on the gas and motor past the Ladycats.

The Ladycats caused a lot of problems for the Cowgirls down the stretch of the game but unfortunately, they were unable to get in an offensive groove to complete the comeback. With third place in the tournament still up for grabs, the Ladycats set their sights on Seguin and began preparing to defend the home court and lock up third place.

Vs. Seguin, L, 49-35

In the final game of the tournament the Ladycats took on Seguin looking to secure a bronze medal when the final buzzer sounded.

Fatigue was a factor for both teams in this game with a start time of 8:30 p.m. in the middle of a break from school and a holiday. These athletes gutted it out though and still put on a show for the fans in attendance.

Seguin took control of the game early and established an early lead to give themselves the early momentum. The Ladycats stayed within striking distance though and made sure Seguin constantly felt the pressure.

The second half was when the fatigue really set in and both teams struggled to find offense. While the offense was scarce the Ladycats were able to cut into Seguin’s lead but would run out of time before anything manifested.

With the tournament behind, the Ladycats are jumping headfirst into their district schedule, with a game coming up against Ganado at home on Jan. 9.
