Ladycats sweep two opponents in a row

The Weimar Ladycats are preparing themselves for a run into district competition as they complete the last matches of their non-district schedule. As they enter the most crucial part of the season to make the postseason, the Ladycats are hoping their performances during the non-district portion of the schedule have them primed for a run at the district championship. Their most recent matches likely have them feeling like they are closer to being ready after sweeping two-straight opponents to boost their record and earn some confidence with two big victories.

Vs Sacred Heart, W, 3-0

Weimar started their week with a big victory against Sacred Heart after showing some early domination and holding on for some competitive sets down the stretch. The Ladycats showed their focus by staying on top of a surging Indianettes team that made the final games of the match a close contest.

The Ladycats opened the match with a dominant win as they got an early run that helped them take the advantage and cruise to an easy victory. Weimar had a strong defensive effort in the win as they held Sacred Heart below double digits in a 25-9 victory.

The next sets were much more evenly matched as Sacred Heart breached the 20-point threshold in each game. The most competitive set was the second as the Indianettes bounced back with a strong game. The teams went back-and-forth as they battled to the tightest margin of the match. Weimar held on for the win in a 25-23 effort.

The third set was similar to the second with the overall competitiveness of both teams. However, the Ladycats once again found the late advantage over their opponents as they took a 25-22 win to claim the match.

Vs Gonzales, W, 3-0

Weimar’s next match against the Lady Apaches was not nearly as tight or contested in a dominant effort by the Ladycats. They once again got a hot start as they ran out to an early lead and never eased off the gas in game one before finding a similar level of success in the following games on the way to the sweep.

Game one was another defensive masterclass by the Ladycats as they held Gonzales to less than 10 points to open the match. The Lady Apaches struggled to get anything going offensively while also withstanding intense attacking pressure by Weimar’s offense. The results were not good for Gonzales as they fell in game one by a 25-8 margin.

The second set was Gonzales’ best game as they reached their highest point total of the match. Despite finally reaching double digits, the Lady Apaches still had difficulties slowing down Weimar’s potent attack. The Ladycats took advantage of their hot offense as they held on for a 25-14 victory in game two.

The final game of the sweep finished with another large margin of victory. Weimar took a few points back from their slightly more competitive set in game two. The Ladycats did not struggle in establishing a big advantage as they closed the match with a 25-11 victory to claim their second match win in a row.
