On Friday, Oct. 2, Rice Varsity took on Van Vleck in district play, only to come up short 22-14 with Van Vleck taking the win.
Rice Raiders quarterback Rafael Herrera completed 8 out of 10 passes for 76 yards to receivers Fuller and Montgomery. Rushing yards totaled 105 yards with Fuller, Montgomery, Cotton, Hurd, and Herrera carrying the ball for 30 carries. Fumbles were kept to a minimum with only two with both lost to the other team.
Defensively the Raiders recorded 37 solo tackles and 15 assisted tackles. Cotton picked up one sack and Flores picked up three sacks.
Gonzales had one fumble recovery. In the end, Fuller brought in one touchdown and Montgomery took the ball in for one touchdown, and the Raiders put two extra points on the board with a conversion.
The Raiders have a bye week on Oct. 8 and play East Bernard at home on Oct. 15.
