The Columbus Varsity volleyball team beat Palacios in three straight sets on Friday, Oct. 9. Palacios challenged Columbus in the first two sets, but came up way short in the third set with scores 25-16, 25-19, and 25-08.
Lady Card trio of Tribe, Theut, and Shropshire dominated the court, with Thomas and Heffley providing their own punches.
Tribe hit three aces, 24 total attacks, 11 kills, and six digs.
Theut had one ace, 17 total attacks, six kills, four assists, nine setter assists, and four digs. Shropshire produced three aces, 18 total attacks, five kills, one solo, two setter assists, and 14 digs.
Thomas hit three aces, 12 setter assists, and eight digs, and Heffley with six total attacks, three kills, one solo, four assists, and seven digs.
Rodriguez recorded one total attack, one kill, and three digs. Adams had seven total attacks, two kills, one solo, and two assists. Mandola had five total attacks, two kills, with two assists. Shupak had one setter assist and 13 digs.
Lady Cards Coach Kayley Johns said, “I was very proud of our team energy, intensity, and offensive production throughout the games.”
She also noted that the Freshman and JV teams won their games. The Lady Cards will play an away game against Yoakum on Oct. 16, and host Hallettsville on Oct. 20.
