Weimar Ladycats are playoff bound

Hello everyone and welcome back to The Huddle, the reason I have called this huddle today is to talk about the Weimar Ladycats.

The Ladycats are playoff bound this season and they are the first team in our coverage area to clinch a spot.

But how did they get to this point?

Well, let’s talk about this team and the things they did right to get here. First and foremost, basketball is a team game so from top to bottom the Ladycats had great execution.

From their coach, who did a fantastic job adapting as the season went along to the fresh faces on the team the Ladycats only executed their jobs. The Ladycats were a streaky team at times throughout the year but they never let it define them.

They never dwelled on the losses too long but also never let the wins bring them up too high. They showed up ready to give their best effort every single game this year.

This is where I give head coach Jenny Fricke a ton of credit because as a coach if you can have your team ready and excited to play every single game amid a losing or winning streak is a great trait.

That’s one thing most people may not know about coaching, it is about x’s and o’s obviously. But to have a coach that believes in their players and instills confidence in them no matter the circumstances is the mark of a great coach so just needed to shoutout Coach Fricke and everything she did this season.

Now, as for the players, I have yet to find a team that plays for each other more than the Ladycats. They genuinely do not care who has the most points or the flashiest highlights or any of that.

They just want to win basketball games.

They are such a close group and love playing with one another, it’s the beauty of sports but everyone gets to see it. They want to succeed but they only want to do it together, as someone who has been around sports all of their life, I can say that is special.

So now this group with their leader who believes in them as well as the team wanting to win games for each other heading into playoffs. They definitely earned their spot, and they are going to surprise some teams when they tip off in the playoffs.
