WEIMAR — The Wildcats got some of their best stretch of play of the season during their last tournament as they made a run to the first-place game against Sacred Heart. Weimar won through their pool games, finishing at the top along with the opposing Indians. In a high-scoring championship game, the Wildcats were not able to keep up with Sacred Heart’s scoring in a difficult 12-6 defeat.

The Indians got out to a hot start and never turned back as they ran up the score. After scoring four runs in the opening inning, the allowed the Wildcats to get two runs back in the bottom of the first. Sacred Heart matched those two runs with two more runs in the top of the second, and Weimar responded with another run at the bottom of the inning. The rest of the game went entirely in favor of Sacred Heart as they scored three runs in the third for their sixth total, and they doubled their score in the fourth to secure their victory. The Wildcats offense that had helped them reach the championship game had its own moments of impressive play, but their defense could not keep the game close enough to give their offense a chance to do meaningful damage.
