Bi-centennial activities

As a newcomer to Columbus in the early 90s, it was my pleasure to write/direct 3 plays for Columbus Historic Preservation Trust (CHPT) in the Stafford Opera House. The cast was local and our friends and neighbors filled the House. I hope that you have heard that there will be a play this year. It is part of the bi-centennial celebration. This year’s one act plat is titled “Happy Birthday Columbus”. It will portray an imaginary 5th grade class on the day of the birthday party. The students are played by your neighbors Ester Chandler, Gary Chandler, Ann Butler, James Yearwood, Billy Kahn, Tina Higdon, Bob Stiles, John Crews, Lori Ann Gobert, Dr Kirk Anderson, Kathy Salguero, Mark Candela, Darrel Appelt, Phillip Brummett, Allison Korrel, Beamer Stiles, Shirley Isbell, and John Isbell.

The support team – Steve and Grace McCullough, Lin Baron, Nils Nilsson, Gene Flessner, Gary Chandler, Robyn Adams, Doreen Vail, Marti Herring, Trish Priest, and Terri Brasher. You’ll see a character in the play who will remind you of yourself or a friend. Music from the 50’s will make you want to dance. Mark your calendar for Sunday, May 7 at 2 p.m. at the Stafford Opera House. Bring a smile and a happy spirit as our Columbus talent takes the stage. Thanks to the sponsor of the show – Columbus Historic Preservation Trust (CHPT).
