WEIMAR -- The Weimar Encore Lions Club is seeking to identify local children with physical disabilities, Type 1 Diabetes, cancer, or Down Syndrome to help sponsor those children for a week at Texas Lions Camp this summer.

Texas Lions Camp in Kerville is a summer camp dedicated to serving Texas children with physical disabilities.

Established in 1949 and opened in 1950, Texas Lions Camp has served thousands of children from across Texas during its history.

Local Encore Lions Club leaders emphasize that the camp is specifically designed to help children with disabilities, and that camp counselors are specially trained to work with children with disabilities.

Local Lions cover the cost of children attending the camp. Parents are out no expense for the experience, leaders said.

Anyone with a special needs child who is interested in Texas Lions Camp is asked to contact Encore Lions members Molly Raabe at 979-725-6742 or Michelle Banse Stokes at 979-732-2304.
