Four suspects that allegedly fled a Weimar police officer in a stolen 2012 Caddilac early Tuesday morning were captured just after 1 p.m., according to Weimar Police Chief Todd Jacobs.

Jacobs said Weimar PD Officer Casey Thumann attempted to stop a stolen vehicle on Interstate 10 East heading toward Houston at 5:55 a.m. Tuesday morning.

"The vehicle can to a stop and three black males fled from the vehicle. One black male was still in the vehicle and was arrested. An immediate description of the remaining suspects at large was put out to the surrounding area," Jacobs said.

"The suspects were spotted by a concerned citizen in a field south of IH-10 East of the police department at approximately 8 a.m.," he continued.

Jacobs said that two guns, one reported stolen out of Houston, were allegedly found in the vehicle.

Weimar PD units, Colorado County Deputies, and Texas DPS troopers responded to the area and spotted the three suspects, Jacobs said.

"The suspects then ran deeper into a wooded area. A large perimeter was established  Between IH-10, County road 220, FM 2434 and FM 155. A search of the area for the suspects then began, with officers and K-9s on foot. After a lengthy search, all three suspects were taken into custody, and the man hunt ended at approximately 1:00pm.. At this time it is believed that three of the males are adults and one is a juvenile. No one has been identified at this time," Jacobs said.

"I would like to personally that everyone that was involved, especially the concerned citizens that continued to call in sightings of the suspects that ultimately led to their capture, including a citizen that took his private plane into the air to assist. All of the agencies that follow were  involved in the search: Weimar PD (+K9); Colorado County Sheriff’s Office; Fayette County Sheriff’s Office (+K9); Texas DPS Troopers and DPS Air Support; Texas Game Wardens; Weimar Fire Department; and Colorado County EMS," Jacobs said.
