Ash Wednesday, Lent begin for St. Anthony

Today, Wednesday, Feb. 14, is Ash Wednesday which marks the beginning of the Lenten season. St. Anthony students perform Mass this morning at 8:15 a.m. During Lent, students will pray the Stations of the Cross weekly, and will attend Adoration on Wednesdays.

Today, Wednesday, Feb. 14, is Ash Wednesday which marks the beginning of the Lenten season. St. Anthony students perform Mass this morning at 8:15 a.m. During Lent, students will pray the Stations of the Cross weekly, and will attend Adoration on Wednesdays.

This Friday, Feb. 16, Bishop Cahill will be here to celebrate Children’s Mass with the SAS students at 8:15 a.m. As always, all are welcome to attend Children’s Mass on Friday mornings.

Yesterday, the 6th graders took a field trip to the Brenham movie theater to watch “The Chosen”. The first three episodes of the newest season are in theaters now. The series is a historical drama that follows Jesus Christ with his disciples, giving viewers an intimate look at his life and teachings. The 4th grade will head to the Main Street Theater in Houston tomorrow to watch a production of “The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe”, from the story by C.S. Lewis.

This Saturday, Feb. 17, St. Anthony will host a track meet at the Columbus High School Memorial stadium/ track. Over eight schools will be participating. For high school students or older who would like to volunteer at the meet, please call the school before Saturday to sign up.

Monday, Feb. 19 is a school holiday in observance of Presidents’ Day. On Tuesday, Feb. 20, registration for the 2024-25 school year will open to current families of St. Anthony School. For those who have questions about registration for next year, please call the school office at 979-732-5505.
