Columbus Elementary School with top UIL performers

The University Scholastic League had several competitions for students to participate in such as writing and chess. The Columbus Elementary School had several top performers after sending many to perform.

The second-grade winners were Landry Stancik in third place for storytelling, Blair Heffley in second place for chess, and Jason Class for third place in chess. They competed along with their classmates Aubrey Gonzalez, Karly Johns, I’Zaya Anderson, Harper Chollett, Layla Henneke, Jax Neuendorff, Blakely Cranek and Cardinal Gertson.

Third grade had several winners during the competition. Lily Rainey took first place in creative writing followed by Callen Barten in third place and Kennedy Kuhn in fourth place. Braylan Macha took first place in chess with Tyr Davis in fourth place. Dane Schupak and Bailyn Blount took first place in robotics with Emri Chester and Easton Leopold taking third place.

The music memory team took first place as a group while Kuhn took second place individually and Micah Polasek took third. Taylor Waldrop finished in third place for spelling with Peyton Guzman coming in sixth. Addison Mack, Callen Barten and Willow Belasquez finished in fourth, fifth and sixth place respectively in the storytelling competition.

Brooks Schindler and Grey Davis also competed at the competition.

The fourth graders featured a tie in first place for the Art smart contest as George Bergfeld and Bella Aguado received high marks for their submissions. Ariana Peters took fifth place in the competition. Bryce Johnson took first place in chess followed by Shane Sarao in second place and Juan Loera in fourth place.

Gracelyn Gorman took the top spot in spelling followed by Rhett Rosenbaum in sixth place. Ariana Peters and Audrey Theriot took second and sixth place respectively in oral reading. Bree Krpec and Theriot took third and fourth place respectively in ready writing. Eric Torres and Seth Ray won second place in the robotics contest while Rhett Rosenbaum and Carson Berger took third place. Jaxon Gonzalez took third place in number sense followed by Evan Stein in sixth. Olivia Gonzales took fifth place in music memory. Tucker Stancik, Savannah May, Jensen Anderson, Kase Johns, Dyna Christianson, Carter Stein and Amiya Walton participated as well.

The fifth-grade art smart team took second place as a group led by Hadley Divin in first place followed by Becca Ray and Savannah Rex in second and sixth place respectively.

Vanessa Escamilla took first place in number sense with Camden Barten taking fourth place. Avery Evans and Mattie Clem took second and fourth place respectively in the listening skills competition. Truman Harrell finished in fifth place for the maps, graphs and charts contest while Aubrey Sosa took sixth place in Ready Writing. Harlee Lewis took third place and Paisley Stancik took sixth place in oral reading.

Evans along with Beau Kuenstler took second place in robotics with Sosa and Barton taking fourth place. Laura Kay Henneke and Lelani Lara took fifth and sixth place respectively in chess. Lilly Hill, Ava Blymyer, Caden Koy, Ellie Kohler, Braysen Abke, Nic Janak, Weston Dyer, Bella Kelley and Mercedes Martinez also competed for the fifth graders.
