SAS SAINTLY NEWS

“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 3:14-15) St. Anthony School was back in session on Aug 9, with the SAS cheerleaders greeting students as they left the lazy days of summer behind and began the ‘2023- ‘2024 school year. Returning students and staff welcomed new students and staff in hopes of kicking off a new year of learning, faith and friendship.

SAS Ambassadors led Mass on Aug 15, celebrating the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Ambassadors are student leaders that promote the faith, values and vision of SAS.

SAS 8th graders recently attended a retreat in Victoria, beginning their final year at SAS with prayer, reflection and camaraderie, preparing them for their leadership role this school year.

The Lady Saints volleyball team will play Nazareth at home on Aug 24, and Saints football will play their first 6-man game in Victoria on Aug 23 vs. Trinity. This year, SAS also has a cross-country team that competed in its first meet on Aug 19.

SAS PTC will hold its first meeting on Aug 22 in the school cafeteria in preparation for the year and the upcoming Halloween Carnival.

On Aug14, St. Anthony School lost their beloved 1st grade teacher, Donna Culton after a brief but fierce battle with cancer. Ms. Culton was a staple of SAS for over 25 years and the SAS families adored her. The memory of her smile and laughter will continue to brighten the days at SAS.
