St. Anthony students explore Texas history
Members of the local chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas exhibited their Pioneer Life Trunk to Ms. Kelsey Bohuslav’s 4th grade class at Saint Anthony Catholic School. Kathleen Townzen and Donna Pustejovsky from the Dilue Rose Harris chapter presented various replica items from the mid-1800s. These ‘artifacts’ would be used in everyday life, such as maps and currency, household items and toys and games. As each item was presented, students were able to handle, experiment, and enjoy. Columbus Elementary fourth-graders experience Texas history
The fourth graders at Columbus Elementary School welcomed members of the local chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Kathleen Townzen and Donna Pustejovsky from the Dilue Rose Harris chapter presented a Pioneer Life Trunk filled with replicas of items from the republic of Texas era. They sprinkled in a little bit of Texas history while explaining the use of everyday items, household items to toys. Students compared the items to their modern-day counterparts.
