Lady Raiders pick up first district victory
Lady Raiders pick up first district victory
The Rice Lady Raiders have a much-improved squad this season after benefitting from an extra year of experience from a team that returned every player from last season. The Lady Raiders have already surpassed their record from last season and are on the hunt to finish with a higher district placement than their last place finish a season ago. After picking up their first district victory last week, they have taken a major step towards reaching their goal. Just a few matches into the district season, the Lady Raiders find themselves tied for fifth place and ahead of winless Tidehaven and Hallettsville. 09/20/2023 12:00 AM

Raiders vs Cards in county rivalry matchup
COLUMBUS – The rivalry between Columbus and Rice is a decades-long competition between teams that have had varying levels of success throughout its timeline. In the years of the old Eagle Lake High school and early years of Rice Consolidated, the Raiders took their opportunities and an advantage during their early matchups. Now in the modern era, the Cardinals have turned things around with a higher level of success as they have defeated Rice several seasons in a row during their annual game. Their most recent matchup was a continuation of the Cards’ advantage as Columbus secured a 56-7 victory over the Rice Raiders. 09/13/2023 12:00 AM

Lady Cards take round one against Lady Raiders
COLUMBUS – The Lady Raiders have had much better results in the record book this season as they continue their efforts to try to become a factor in the district title race. They still have more ground to cover as they got their first look against the team that is favored to take the district championship this season: the Columbus Lady Cardinals. The match proved to be reflective of the dynamic between a team that is in the process of rebuilding and one that had just made a state semifinal appearance the year before. Columbus showed why they are currently one of the top teams in the state with a three-game sweep over the Lady Raiders. 09/13/2023 12:00 AM
