Yesterday, St. Anthony 7th graders travelled to San Antonio to “remember the Alamo” while the 8th grade made their way underground to experience Natural Bridge Caverns. Tomorrow, the 2nd and 3rd grade will take a trip to Houston’s Main Street Theatre to watch a production of “Beauty and the Beast.” Speaking of productions, the St. Anthony One-Act Play cast has begun learning their lines and getting into character.

FA Knights compete in All-Star Game
On Dec. 2, four Faith Academy Knights travelled to Allen Academy in Bryan for the TAIAO All-Star game. Coaches from around the league vote on the players they believed to be some of the best at their respective positions this season. Senior Luke Wicklein, junior Travis Woodley, sophomore Jackson Dunn, and sophomore Christian Pillow were voted to compete. Senior Noah Figueroa earned a spot in the game but couldn’t attend.

Border car chases led to 74 deaths in two years
At least 74 people have been killed and 189 injured during high-speed car chases near the U.S.-Mexico border since Gov. Greg Abbott launched Operation Lone Star, a multibillion-dollar border security initiative, according to a report published by Human Rights Watch, a nonprofit agency.

HERBERT HELMCAMP
Herbert E. Helmcamp, Jr., was born on Sept. 12, 1944, in Houston, Texas to parents Herbert and Beatrice Helmcamp. Most of his childhood memories were of going to his Grandpa Helmcamp’s farm in Sedan; hunting rabbits, sitting with Grandpa on the porch or by the woodstove, visiting Oakland, camping and fishing on the Brazos River with his parents, older brother C. W., Uncle Leon, Aunt Mary, and cousin Leonard Helmcamp.

Historical Career Fair planned for San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site
The San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site, operated by the Texas Historical Commission, will host a fun day of history and learning activities on Saturday, Dec. 2. Staff and volunteer living historians will demonstrate the trades, crafts and jobs performed by residents of the historic town during its heyday between 1823 and 1836. The programs will be ideal for history lovers and families looking for engaging and hands-on activities to share with children.
