The Weimar Lions held a charity fundraiser golf tournament on Saturday, June 24. The winning teams are listed below: First Flight- all teams shot a 60 and in a scorecard playoff. Columbus alum earns first minor league pitching win
Columbus High School alumnus, Marcus Olivarez, took a major step in his professional career during his run in the Kansas City Royals developmental system. The Royals’ Single-A League Team, the Columbia Fireflies, employ Olivarez as a relief pitcher in their bullpen. He has been looking to gain his footing in the minors after having a relatively difficult month of outings in April. He has steadily improved as he has increased his appearances and finally picked up his first minor league victory in the month of July. 07/12/2023 12:00 AM

Columbus CATfish swimmers populate top spots at MoC
The annual Meet of Champs inviteds swimmers from all over the area to compete in a variety of Olympic style swim racing events in several different age groups. The Columbus CATfish had a strong performance with many of their swimmers taking top three spots and claiming medals for their respective events. With several taking firstplace medals, the CATfish were well-represented in the top placements as they found winners in nearly every age group that participated. 07/12/2023 12:00 AM

Columbus beats Bastrop twice for Sectional victory
The Columbus Little League Major All-Stars have booked their ticket to the state tournament level of the little league season after finding some big wins in Sectionals. The girls earned their spot in sectionals after taking two-straight wins in the district tournament against Sealy Little League, meaning they were well-equipped for the sectional tournament that included just one other team in the bracket. Columbus thoroughly outplayed Bastrop Little League as the teams engaged in a best-of-three series to determine who would move on to the next level. The Columbus Major girls responded with two of their best performances of the season so far to take the series in two straight wins to claim the Sectional Championship. 07/12/2023 12:00 AM

EAGLE LAKE – On July 4, at approximately 9:35 p.m., the Eagle Lake Police Department responded to the 300 block of Simmons Street in reference to a male and female who had been stabbed at the residence.
