Hurricane season readiness tips
Hurricane season officially began June 1 and ends Nov. 30. According to ready.gov, hurricanes can cause major damage from storm surge, wind damage, rip currents and flooding. Ready. gov also reports that storm surge is historically the leading cause of hurricane-related deaths in the United States. KCs donate $5K to Catholic church in Hostyn
The Columbus KC Council 2971 recently deposited a $5,000 into the Matching Funds Campaign account at Fayette Savings Bank for the benefit of the Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn, Texas, rebuilding fund.

Columbus 7 on 7 just misses out qualifying at SQT
WIMBERLEY – The Columbus Cardinals 7 on 7 team is hoping that they will be playing in the state tournament later this month, but to do so, they will need to secure one of the few spots available at the top of the standings at a state qualifying tournament throughout the season. The Cards could not take advantage of their first opportunity to potentially secure their spot at State despite winning two of their games in pool play.

Weimar 7 on 7 winless at Rice SQT
The summer 7 on 7 season is in full swing as the Weimar Wildcats competed in the Rice-hosted state qualifying tournament for a chance to move on to the state championship tournament later in the month. The Wildcats competed, but they generally had struggles scoring the football during their games as they never truly threatened to take the lead or overcome deficits in any of the three games they played during the pool stage. After completing pool play without a single win, the Wildcats left the tournament still hoping they can turn things around for their next shot at a qualification.

Raider 7 on 7 hosts state qualifying meet
The 7 on 7 teams for the Rice Raiders gave themselves a chance to compete for a spot in the State Tournament later this month after hosting a qualifier tournament that featured several teams from around the area. The teams included the Raiders, East Bernard, Tidehaven, Weimar, Ganado, Louise, Brazos and Somerville.
