COLUMBUS — The concerned residents gathered at the Nesbitt Memorial Library to meet various school board candidates from Columbus and Weimar Independent School Districts and ask questions about the upcoming school bond elections.
The Columbus Cardinals closed out their athletic week last week by hoisting the District Championship banner after defeating the Rice Raiders.
The Columbus Lady Cardinals played and won both district games last week and will fly into the first round of the playoffs this coming week.
The Columbus Cardinals competed in the Regional Track Meet this past week and these are the results.
The Rice Raiders lost both district games against Industrial and Columbus, and their losing streak is now 12 games.

Members of the Westside Narcotics Task Force (HIDTA) arrested a Louise High School coach and former coach with Columbus, Weimar and Rice Consolidated school districts on trafficking narcotics in the Colorado County area.

Our dear mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend passed away in Marble Falls, Texas on April 6th. at the young age of 91. Carolyn Irene Cooper (formally Carolyn Cooper Gundelach) was born in Houston, Texas on May 24, 1932 to William Prince Cooper and Elsie Penfield Cooper.
Mary Ann Kaluza, 74, of Eagle Lake, Texas, passed away on April 15, 2024, in her hometown of Eagle Lake. She was born on Nov. 7, 1949, to Miles Charles and Mary Victoria (Jochetz) Theuman in Eagle Lake. In 1967, she married Johnnie Kaluza of East Bernard, and they were married for 37 years until his passing in 2005.
