FREDERICK (FRITZ) HENRY LEOPOLD
FREDERICK (FRITZ) HENRY LEOPOLD

Together with his brother Arthur, Fritz co-founded Leopold Grain on family land, transforming it into a thriving grain elevator and feed business that became one of the first to market and label feed corn specifically as deer corn. Their vision and work ethic built a company that supported local agriculture and served generations of farmers and ranchers across the region.
Fritz deeply valued his Swiss heritage and took great pride in honoring the memory of his ancestors. In a labor of love, he designed and built his home in the style of a traditional Swiss chalet — complete with architectural nods to his family’s roots. His home became a peaceful and welcoming place for family and friends, embodying the warmth, hospitality, and enduring traditions that meant so much to him.
He also cherished time on the open road. One of Fritz’s favorite ways to vacation was to take a slow drive through the countryside, soaking in the beauty of the land. One of his favorite destinations was Colorado, whether it was a long family driving vacation, a ski trip, or a hunting excursion. Those trips became treasured family memories, filled with laughter, stories, and quiet appreciation for nature’s beauty.
Beyond the business and his family homestead, Fritz was a true pillar of the community — not just in Nada, but throughout Colorado County. He gave generously of his time and leadership, serving on numerous boards and committees, including: 16 years on the Rice Consolidated Independent School Board, 5 years on the Dioceson School Board, 3 years on the St. Mary’s Catholic School Board,
