EUGENE “GENO” SMITH

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Eugene “Geno” Smith, who left this world peacefully on June 6, 2025, just weeks before his 84th birthday. Geno was born on June 26, 1941 in Buffalo, New York. He was loved by many and known for his easygoing nature and quiet strength, Geno’s presence brought comfort, laughter, and kindness to everyone around him.

Geno spent 25 years as a meat cutter at H-E-B, where his hard work, good humor, and friendly conversations made him a familiar and well-liked face. Outside of work, he enjoyed the simple things in life—bowling a few frames, planning his next vacation, spending time with friends and family, and caring for the dogs he loved so much.

He was a longtime member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Columbus, where he found peace and community. Geno had a big heart, a good sense of humor, and a love for being surrounded by those he cared about. Whether it was a quiet conversation or a loud family get-together, he was happiest when his people were close.

Geno is preceded in death by his wife, Toni Smith; his mother, Betty Smith; and his father, Eugene V. Smith.

He is survived by his children: Tina Smith, Gina Noble, Terra Reyes, and Gene Smith; his brothers, Jerry Smith and Joe Smith; and his grandchildren: Nicole Yeager, Kaylee Smith, Jeremy Smith, Linzey Marsic, Emily Noble, Justin Noble, Brandon Reyes, Shawn Reyes, and Kyle Reyes.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Cathol ic Church in Columbus, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m.
