Pat had a successful career in insurance for many years before her retirement and was the go-to for many of her friends and family members for all their questions. In 2012, Pat married James Harrison Truett in a beautiful ceremony in their former hometown of Seguin. James and Pat returned to her birthplace of Columbus in 2018, where they lived close to her family.
Pat was a loving and creative woman of God who adored her dogs, Tiger and Anna, spending time in the garden with her plants, and cooking. She was a collector of many things and could always be counted on to have that strange item someone needed to borrow— and she probably had way too many shoes and candles.
One of her favorite sayings was, “I love cooking with wine… sometimes I even put it in the food.” She was famous for her German chocolate cake, her pork loin, and for experimenting with anything that could be put in a crock pot. She and James enjoyed sitting together each evening to watch the sunsets from their porch, sharing meals, and visiting with friends, neighbors, and family. Pat was an excellent mother to her stepchildren and was known for mothering (and feeding) the many young people in her life whom she proudly called “her kids.”
There is no doubt that Pat was greeted at the gates of Heaven with a “Well done, faithful servant,” and a joyful reunion with the loved ones who went before her. She is a treasure to all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
James and the family and friends of Pat sincerely apologize for any loved ones who may have been left out. They also wish to give a heartfelt thank you to the many caregivers who helped during this tough time—specifically, Samantha Hernandez, Nicole Owers, and the folks at Amedisys Hospice.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 8, at 11 a.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, with visitation beforehand from 9-11 a.m. and a graveside service to follow.
