FRANCES MARIE SCHAEFER

Frances Marie Schaefer, 83, of New Ulm, passed away on July 6, 2025, in New Ulm.

She was born on Dec. 6, 1941, to Alphonse Francis Brosky and Louise Anthony (Nofsinger) Brosky in Washington, DC. On Sept. 1, 1962, she married Thomas Edward Schaefer. Frances was a homemaker for her husband and nine children as well as a caregiver for many years.

She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Frelsburg. She was the C.E.O. for Servants of The Poor which was a charity organization in Odessa. Frances enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She led a very spiritual life and enjoyed traveling as well as hiking and camping in her earlier years. She enjoyed gardening and cooking for her large family. She also enjoyed playing cards, board games and puzzles.

Frances is survived by her daughters Margaret Moore and husband James, Nancy Schaefer, Jennifer Smith and husband Brian, and Theresa Schaefer; sons Dominick Schaefer, Martin Schaefer, and Michael Schaefer and wife Anne; sisters Joan Roache and husband Ray and Margaret Quinlan; grandchildren Monica Rose Schaefer, Jared Andrew Schaefer, Kyle Lee Schaefer, Steven Matthew Schaefer, Dylan Cole Schaefer, Catherine Brianna Smith, Evan James Smith, Zoe Lorena Morales, and Benito Tomas Morales; great-grandchildren Cole Ryan Schaefer, Brady Hayes Schaefer, and Janessa Suzanne Schaefer. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Schaefer; parents Alphonse and Louise Brosky; son John Edward Schaefer; daughter Catherine Ann Schaefer.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 10, 22025,at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Frelsburg. Fr. Bob Knippenberg will be officiating. A parish rosary will be prayed at 9:30 AM.
