WILBERT D. GUNDELACH “BUCK”

Wilbert D. Gundelach “Buck”, 86, of Somerville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 20, 2025 at St. Lukes Hospital in The Woodlands. He was born on April 26, 1939 in Columbus to Edward C. Gundelach and Hilda Mehrens Gundelach.

Buck served in the U.S. Army for six years from 1961-1967. He eventually took over running the bakery that his mother started up in Columbus. Buck became well known in the area while running The Little Bakery.

When Buck had free time and after retiring, he enjoyed fishing and dancing and just enjoying life.

In addition to his parents, Buck was preceded in death by his sister Gladys.

Survivors include: son Edward Gundelach Sr. and wife Debra of Sheridan, son Christopher Gundelach and wife Crystal of Columbus, daughter Deborah Gonzalez of Hallettsville, and daughter Rhonda Honeycutt and husband Kenny of Sea Brook. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

A service of remembrance was held on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery in Columbus. Pastor Victor Morrison of the First Baptist Church of Columbus officiated. Online condolences may be given at www.hennekefuneralhome. com.
