LILLI FRANCES LUMSFORD

She graduated from Columbus High School and went on to attend Austin Community College before transferring to the University of Texas, where she earned her associate’s degree in nursing. A devoted nurse, Lilli worked as an LVN at Arbor Hills Nursing Home in Eagle Lake, River Oaks, and Columbus Care, touching countless lives with her compassion, warmth, and strength. Her dedication to her patients and her kind, steady presence left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
On April 15, 1994, she married the love of her life, George Allen Lumsford. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Lilli loved spending time with her family, traveling with George, fishing, gambling, and cruising the open ocean. She will be remembered most for her boundless empathy, unwavering courage, gentle spirit, and enduring love.
Lilli is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, George Allen Lumsford; step-sons, George Lumsford Jr. and wife Valarie and their children, Joshua Lumsford and wife Vanessa and their children, and Robert Lumsford and wife Jessica and their children; sisters, Saravan Grumbles and Tracy Grumbles; brother, Dana Grumbles; nieces, Charlotte Shamblin and her partner Kye, Stephanie Brown and her children, Kristan Laslie and her children, and Leisa Grumbles and fiancé Hunter Spacek; numerous step-grandchildren; sister- in-law, Linda Ramirez; and her dear friend who became family, Tanya King. She is also remembered and loved by many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Sara Grumbles; sister, Lisa Grumbles; and great-nephews, Cash and Cade Teitelbaum.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Lilli’s honor on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025, at The Mansfield Building, located at 930 Travis Street in Columbus, Texas, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Guests are invited to wear purple—Lilli’s favorite color—in her memory.
