LEAH SUZANNE CORNETT

Leah is survived by her husband Charles T. Cornett; daughters Angela Duet and Amanda Hodges and husband Beaux; son Charles L. Cornett; sister Deborah (Debbie) Franze and husband Mark; brothers David Carter and wife Kim and James (Greg) Carter and wife Cynthia (Cindi); grandchildren Jacob Hodges and Dylan Hodges and wife Cosette (Cassie).
Leah grew up and attended school in Houston, Texas. In her youth, Leah enjoyed attending concerts, dancing, and beach trips to Galveston where her mother was born. She learned the art of sewing and was well known for her ability to sew formal wear for herself, her sister, and her mother. She also built friendships that spanned her lifetime, including Cassie Hyatt and husband Jordan.
Leah married her best friend and love of her life, Charles, on August 3, 1985. Leah gained eight siblings after becoming a part of her husband’s family and cherished the relationships she built with them. After the birth of her second daughter, Leah and her family spent time at her husband’s birthplace in Hazard, Kentucky. Leah and her family returned to Texas to help care for her grandmother shortly after her son, and youngest child, was born.
In 1995, Leah and her family moved to Columbus, Texas, to ensure a better life and environment for her children. Leah was a devoted wife and mother and spent countless hours involved in Special Olympics, sports team support, scouts, and school trips. She stood proudly with her husband while raising their children, supporting his efforts to advance his career and build the life they wanted for their children together. Throughout her life Leah was often a caretaker of her family and took pride in supporting them through sickness. She helped care for her grandmother and mother leading up to their deaths as well as her brother-in-law.
Leah’s absence will be felt by all that knew and loved her.
